There are some things that seem to be true when it comes to the majority of smokers. Some of them include feeling that life is very stressful and having less than an ideal amount of self esteem. You may be one of those people, and yet not even realize it. If you want to quit smoking, but have not yet been able to, this article is for you. Think about the things that matter to you in life. Just about everything that makes life wonderful is at risk if you continue to smoke. Most people try to avoid this fact, but instead you should dwell on it as much as you can. For example, if you have family members that you love dearly and would like to spend as much time with as possible here on earth, you are putting that chance at risk by being a smoker. In addition to your increased risk of getting cancer, you are also at risk of developing a long list of other ailments that can affect your quality of life and lead to premature death. Think about this fact often so that you can truly determine how important smoking is to you in comparison. In the end, you will certainly decide that you enjoy life without cigarettes more than the idea of missing out on weddings and graduations that you deserve to be present for.

Work to improve your self image. If you feel down about yourself on a regular basis then you likely do not have very high self esteem. Some people live their entire lives with low self esteem, not realizing how it has affected their life. Fortunately, there are many things that you can do to feel better about yourself. One trick is to remind yourself of the good things about you. Think about the things that you have accomplished, the special talents that you have and how you treat others. You have a lot to be proud of about yourself, you just need to focus on that instead of the negative things. We all have things about ourselves and our lives that we would like to change, but you have to remember that those things are not the things that determine who you are. Once you succeed in raising your self esteem you will see clearly why you deserve to be a non-smoker. You will be able to understand that you deserve to live a long life instead of slowly damaging your body because of a bad habit.
